Indications

Ixazomib is a proteasome inhibitor that is commonly used in the following situations:

• Multiple Myeloma (MM) :
  In combination with lenalidomide and dexamethasone, for patients with multiple myeloma who have received at least one prior therapy.

Mechanism of action

Ixazomib is an oral proteasome inhibitor that selectively inhibits proteasome activity, interfering with protein degradation and homeostasis in tumor cells, ultimately leading to cell death.

Dosage

• Recommended dose :
  • 4 mg orally once a week.
  • Ixazomib should be taken on days 1, 8, and 15 of a 21-day treatment cycle.
• Combination medication :
  • It is usually used in combination with lenalidomide (25 mg/day on days 1 to 21) and dexamethasone (40 mg on days 1, 8, 15, and 22).
• Directions :
  • Take on an empty stomach (at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal).
  • Capsules should be swallowed whole and should not be crushed, chewed or opened.

Dosage adjustments :

• If serious adverse reactions occur (such as hematologic or non-hematologic toxicity), the physician may interrupt treatment or reduce the dose to 3 mg or less.
