About Laos Generic Drug Store

In 2005, India ended its WTO transition period and could no longer copy patented drugs worldwide. The patented drug copying industry gradually shifted to the least developed countries, Bangladesh and Laos. In order to enable the world's not-so-rich families to afford expensive drugs, we established the Laos Generic Drug Store to serve patients around the world. For patients in non-least developed countries, we set up a fund with 10% of the retail price of drugs. Half of the funds are used to purchase stocks of original drug manufacturers to encourage drug research and development innovation, and the other half is used to donate to poor schools in the mountainous areas of Laos. It is because we used the patent compulsory licensing agreement for the least developed countries that we have patented generic drugs. We must give back to Lao society. This is our unshirkable obligation.
