Alectinib (trade name: Alynni) is a targeted anticancer drug, mainly used to treat certain types of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The following is some basic information about Alectinib:

1. Drug classification :

  • Alectinib is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) used for the targeted treatment of ALK-positive non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) . It inhibits the proliferation of tumor cells caused by ALK (anaplastic lymphoma kinase) gene mutations, thereby inhibiting tumor growth.

2. Indications :

  • ALK-positive non-small cell lung cancer : Alectinib is used to treat patients with ALK-positive non-small cell lung cancer that has metastasized, especially those who have previously failed or are resistant to other ALK inhibitors (such as crizotinib).

3. Usage and dosage :

  • Alectinib is usually taken orally. The recommended dose is:
    • Adults : 600 mg twice daily, before or after meals.
    • Dose Adjustment : The dose may need to be adjusted based on the patient's tolerance. If severe side effects occur, the dose may be reduced.
    • Special populations : Caution should be exercised when using this drug in patients with impaired liver function and the dose may need to be adjusted.

Medication should be continued until disease progression or intolerable side effects occur.

4. Notes :

  • Liver function : Alectinib is mainly metabolized by the liver, so it should be used with caution under the guidance of a doctor for patients with impaired liver function.
  • Pregnancy and lactation : The effects of Alectinib on the fetus are not yet fully understood. Pregnant women should avoid using it unless there is no alternative treatment option. For lactating women, Alectinib may be secreted into breast milk, and breastfeeding is not recommended during use.
  • Drug interactions : Alectinib may interact with certain drugs (such as certain antifungal drugs, antiviral drugs, antiepileptic drugs, etc.). Avoid using it in combination with these drugs, or adjust the dosage according to the doctor's instructions.
  • History of Heart Disease : Alectinib may affect heart function, so patients with a history of heart disease should use it with caution.

5. Side effects :

  • Common side effects include: fatigue, constipation, nausea, muscle pain, loss of appetite, difficulty breathing, etc.
  • Serious side effects may occur, such as abnormal liver function (including jaundice), interstitial lung disease (ILD), heart problems (such as QT prolongation), muscle problems (such as rhabdomyolysis), etc.

During the treatment, the doctor will regularly check the patient's liver function, electrocardiogram, etc. to ensure the safe use of the drug.

6. Contraindications :

  • Alectinib is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to it or any of its components.
  • Because Alectinib may cause adverse effects on the liver, patients with severe liver impairment should avoid its use.

7. Pregnancy and lactation :

  • Pregnancy : Alectinib is a Category C drug (according to FDA classification), which means it may have adverse effects on the fetus. Use during pregnancy should be done with caution and under the guidance of a doctor.
  • Lactation : It is not clear whether Alectinib is secreted into breast milk. Lactating women should avoid breastfeeding while using this drug.

8. Storage :

  • Alectinib should be stored at room temperature (15°C to 30°C) away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep the medicine in its original packaging to protect it from moisture.

9. Other matters needing attention :

  • During the treatment, patients should undergo regular imaging examinations, blood tests (such as liver function, blood routine tests), etc., in order to detect potential side effects in a timely manner.
  • While taking Alectinib, you should follow your doctor's instructions and avoid adjusting your dose on your own.

Please note : This information is general information only and does not cover all details. Before using Alectinib, please read the drug instructions carefully and follow your doctor's advice to ensure safe and effective treatment.
