Indications

Symtuza is a combination antiviral medicine indicated for the following conditions:

• Treatment of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection : As part of the treatment of HIV infection in adults and adolescents (≥12 years, weighing ≥40 kg), usually in combination with other anti-HIV medicines.

Symtuza is a fixed-dose combination medicine that contains:

• Dolutegravir : An Integrase Strand Transfer Inhibitor (INSTI) used to inhibit HIV viral replication.
• Emtricitabine : A nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI) used to stop the HIV virus from replicating.
• Tenofovir Alafenamide (TAF): Another nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI) that blocks HIV virus replication by inhibiting its reverse transcriptase function.

Mechanism of action
