Drug Name

Generic Name: Molnupiravir
Product Name: Lagevrio (may have different brand names in some regions)

Indications

Monopivir is an antiviral medicine used to treat mild to moderate COVID-19 infection in adults, especially those at high risk of developing severe disease or hospitalization. Monopivir is usually used in adults who do not require hospitalization and should be used in the early stages of infection.

Mechanism of action

Maunuprivir is a nucleoside analog that inhibits the spread of the virus by interfering with the RNA replication process of the new coronavirus. By introducing errors in the viral RNA, Maunuprivir makes the virus unable to replicate effectively, thereby reducing the viral load and helping the patient's immune system clear the infection.
