Apalutamide, APADX, Apalutamide

Apalutamide tablets (English name: APADX) are an oral androgen receptor (AR) inhibitor, mainly used to treat prostate cancer. The following is a brief description:

Indications

• For the treatment of adult patients with metastatic, endocrine-sensitive prostate cancer (mHSPC).
• For the treatment of adult patients with non-metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (nmCRPC) at high risk of metastasis.

Dosage

• The recommended dose is 240 mg (four 60 mg tablets) once daily, either with or without food.
• Patients should also be receiving androgen deprivation therapy, such as gonadotropin-releasing hormone analogue (GnRHa) therapy or have undergone bilateral orchiectomy.

Adverse Reactions

Common adverse reactions include:

• Decreased appetite
• Peripheral edema

• Weight loss
• Hot flashes
• diarrhea
• Vomit

Laboratory abnormalities may include anemia, leukopenia, lymphopenia, hypercholesterolemia, hyperglycemia, hypertriglyceridemia, and hyperkalemia.

Precautions

• During treatment, patients should regularly monitor their blood pressure, blood lipids, and blood sugar levels.
• Patients should be cautious when driving or operating machinery because seizures may occur.
• Apalutamide may interact with other medications and you should consult your doctor before use.

Use in Special Populations

• Children and Adolescents: Safety and effectiveness have not been established and use is not recommended.
• Elderly: No dosage adjustment is required.
• Patients with impaired renal or hepatic function: No dosage adjustment is required for mild to moderate impairment; use with caution in patients with severe impairment.

Taboo

• It is contraindicated for pregnant women and women planning to become pregnant.
• It is forbidden to use in breastfeeding women.

Storage

• Store at no more than 30°C in the original packaging, away from light and moisture.
