【 Indications 】

• It is suitable for the treatment of advanced breast cancer in postmenopausal women. For patients with negative estrogen receptors, if they show a positive clinical response to tamoxifen, this product can be considered.
• Indicated for the adjuvant treatment of hormone receptor-positive early breast cancer in postmenopausal women.
• It is indicated for the adjuvant treatment of hormone receptor-positive early breast cancer in postmenopausal women who have received 2 to 3 years of adjuvant tamoxifen.

【 Usage and Dosage 】

• Adults (including the elderly): Orally, once a day, 1 tablet each time.
• Renal Impairment: No dosage adjustment is required for patients with mild to moderate renal impairment.
• Hepatic impairment: No dosage adjustment is required for patients with mild hepatic impairment.
• For early-stage breast cancer, the recommended course of treatment is 5 years.

【 Taboo 】

1. Premenopausal women;

2. Pregnant or breastfeeding women;

3. Patients with severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance less than 30ml/min);

4. Patients with moderate to severe liver disease;

5. Patients with known allergy to anastrozole or any of its components;

【 Notes 】

1. For patients whose hormone status is in doubt, biochemical examination should be used to determine whether they have entered menopause (natural menopause or artificial menopause).

2. There is no data supporting the safe use of this product for patients with moderate to severe liver impairment or severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance less than 30 ml/min).

3. Since this product reduces the level of circulating estrogen, it may lead to a decrease in bone density and may be accompanied by an increased risk of fractures. The use of bisphosphonates may prevent further decreases in bone density in postmenopausal women caused by anastrozole and may be considered for use. Women with osteoporosis or potential osteoporosis risk should undergo regular bone density examinations, such as DEXA scans, at the beginning of treatment and regularly thereafter. Treatment or prevention of osteoporosis should be started at the appropriate time and carefully monitored.

4. In the ATAC trial, more patients treated with anastrozole reported elevated serum cholesterol compared with those treated with tamoxifen (9% in the anastrozole group and 3.5% in the tamoxifen group).

5. In the ATAC trial, an increased incidence of ischemic cardiovascular events was observed in women with pre-existing heart disease (17% in the anastrozole group and 10% in the tamoxifen group). Therefore, patients with pre-existing ischemic heart disease should use anastrozole after weighing the risks and benefits.

6. Athletes should use with caution.

7. This product is unlikely to affect the patient's ability to drive and operate machinery, but there have been reports of fatigue and drowsiness. Special attention should be paid if the above symptoms persist while driving or operating machinery.

【 Adverse Reactions 】

• The side effects of this product mainly include skin flushing, vaginal dryness, excessive hair oil secretion, gastrointestinal dysfunction (anorexia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea), fatigue, depression, headache or rash, etc. The side effects are usually mild or moderate and are easily tolerated by patients.
• Uterine bleeding has been reported occasionally, primarily in the first few weeks after patients are switched from existing hormonal therapy to this product. If bleeding continues, further evaluation is indicated.
• It has been reported that patients with advanced breast cancer treated with this product have changes in liver function (such as increased transpeptidase and alkaline phosphatase), but many of these patients have already developed liver metastases or bone metastases. The causes of these changes have not yet been studied. Clinical observations have shown that this product can slightly increase plasma total cholesterol levels.
