Selumetinib is a targeted anticancer drug indicated for the following conditions:
-
Advanced or metastatic RET fusion-positive non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) :
- For the treatment of adult patients with advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer with confirmed RET gene fusion.
-
Advanced or metastatic RET mutation-positive medullary thyroid cancer (MTC) :
- For the treatment of adults and children (12 years and older) with advanced or metastatic medullary thyroid cancer who have been confirmed to be RET mutation-positive.
-
Other malignancies that are RET mutation- or fusion-positive :
- In certain specific cases, selumetinib can also be used to treat other RET mutation- or fusion-positive tumors.
Mechanism of action
Semetatinib is an oral small molecule RET tyrosine kinase inhibitor that can selectively target abnormal signal transduction caused by RET gene mutation or fusion, inhibit the activity of RET tyrosine kinase, and thus inhibit the proliferation and growth of tumor cells.
